LiveCast Partners with Intel and WiMAX Operators in Asia for Industry Launches

Wimax japan It was great to meet so many friends of LiveCast in Asia this past few weeks. Enthusiasm's as strong as ever for solution's like LiveCast that fully leverage the capabilities of new 4G data networks.

Congrats to LiveCast's WiMAX partners for progress in network roll-outs...VMAX Telecom in Tawain, and UQ Communications in Japan.

Our LiveCast team managed to support two live Intel executive keynote presentations, followed by multi-day trade show demonstrations, within a compressed 10 day timeframe -- starting in Taipai, Taiwan (Computex), followed on by Tokyo, Japan (Interop).

"Pressure's on when you're responsible for demonstrating cutting-edge technology live...Typically, 'live demos' aren't even attempted for executive keynotes," said William Mutual, LiveCast CEO. "But, thanks to a great Intel team and our local WiMAX network partners, we were able to visually showcase the myraid of valuable applications available with the LiveCast platform that fully leverage 4G mobile broadband."

At Computex 2009 in Taipei, Anand Chandrasekher, Intel senior vice president and general manager for the company's Ultra Mobility Group, demonstrated the ability for a few friends to just "show up and shoot" a live Webcast production using the new LiveCast Lightning VJ application. Four participants using Netbooks and MIDs to stream live video from their own "point of view"-- from the audience, on stage, and back stage, with less than a second latency, were mixed into a single live feed displayed on a large screen. The location of each broadcast stream was tracked on a map in real-time.  (Read full press release)

"LiveCast's video streaming solutions represent one of the most innovative and exciting applications for our target market segments and is an excellent way to show the potential usages of the MID and Netbook device categories."

Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in Intel's ultra mobility group.

Uq copy The launch of UQ Communications new WiMAX network was celebrated at an exclusive press event where Intel executive, Sean Maloney, executive vice president of Intel Corporation and chief sales and marketing officer, kicked off the event with a live demo of LiveCast streaming live video from Netbooks in vehicles driving around Tokyo. A large map displayed to the audience the real-time location of each vehicle, along with a live video feed, their speed and direction.

Exciting news going forward: UQ Communications plan a nationwide expansion of UQ WiMAX service in Japan, with the commitment to provide WiMAX coverage to 90 percent of the country by 2012.

First to stream live from a WiMAX phone (HTC MAX 4G)

Htc-max-4g-review-01-321x372 LiveCast marked another industry first, by partnering with the fantastic people at Yota Networks in Russia, the exclusive operator to offer the HTC MAX 4G phone. LiveCast has enabled hardware-level DSP assisted video encoding for the HTC MAX 4G mobile phone, furthering the company's already extensive range of in-market supported WiMAX devices.

Demonstrated today at Mobile World Congress, LiveCast also takes full advantage of the HTC MAX's built-in GPS capability by integrating location data for real-time tracking on a map, including automated notifications and social network sharing for Yota Network customers.

"LiveCast's live video streaming is a very innovative solution for HTC MAX 4G and the Yota Network," said Natalya Tsarevskaya-Dyakina, Yota Director. "It's a great example of how working closely together can provide our customers the most innovative WiMAX applications - offerings that take full advantage of the unique capabilities of our WiMAX network." Come see us at Mobile World Congress - Intel Booth - Hall 8, Stand B109

If you're traveling to Barcelona this week for MWC, we'd love to see you at the Intel booth. You can't miss the LiveCast demo, it's front row and center!

Intel-booth-

LiveCast was invited by Intel to join them behind-the-scenes in order to ensure that live video could be demonstrated by global WiMAX operators.

The LiveCast WiMAX demonstration includes participation by over 16 WiMAX operators located in major cities around the world - with LiveCast-ready mobile phones, netbooks, PCs, MIDs and security cams. Whether from public trains, vehicles or building tops - transmissions are high-quality real-time video of the city streets, pedestrian traffic, and local landscapes. Each of the live video streams includes integrated GPS coordinates to allow real-time tracking of locations on a global map.

Individual operator pages are integrated into a large "video wall" made up of nine monitors. WiMAX operators livecasting to Mobile World Congress include: Aria (Italy), Clearwire (USA), DBD (Germany), Digicel (Jamaica), Global Data Services (Lebanon), ITRI (Taiwan), Libya Telecom & Technology (Libya), Max Telecom (Bulgaria), Mobilink (Pakistan), Nuevatel (Bolivia), OneMax (Dominican Republic), Packet One (Malaysia), Worldmax (Netherlands), Wipet (Panama) and Xanadoo (USA). Yes! it's quite a crew, and we'd like to say thanks to each and every one of them for the wonderful cooperation and fast turn-around of server and system set-up, and getting all the live feeds going.

And we really appreciate the positive response we've heard back from them and the early crowds at MWC!

Livecast Center Stage at Intel's Keynote at Computex 2008

We're very excited announce that after working closely with Intel and its WiMAX partners at several trade shows over the past year, Livecast was selected as the main demonstration for Intel Executive Vice President Sean Maloney's opening keynote address at Computex Taipei 2008.Intel_computex

The Intel keynote demonstration featured a preview of Livecast's soon-to-launch community portal based on Microsoft's Silverlight technology.

The portal is designed as an interactive live video and GPS mapping "mash-up" that displays each mobile livecaster's location as a colored pinpoint on a map. Viewers can mouse over each pinpoint to preview video information, then click to launch the corresponding live video stream.

Watch the Webcast of the keynote address: http://intelstudios.edgesuite.net/computex/index.htm

Maloney presented Livecast as a compelling Web 2.0 consumer application that enables users to take advantage of the high-capacity uplink channel unique to WiMAX data networks.

The ability of livecasters to stream live video straight from their WiMAX-enabled mobile devices to the web means that breaking news can instantly be broadcast to the world: friends can see what's happening at the night club or at the shopping mall, family members living far away can still experience a wedding or birthday party, and band members can entertain a global audience with a few minutes' notice.

We predict that providing a 'one-button,' simple way to broadcast high quality video from a mobile device will change the way people create and deliver user-generated video on-the-go.

Livecast's technology is a great example of the type of emerging application that will take advantage of the benefits of mobile WiMAX technology, giving people a convenient way to get and share video content when and where they want it instantly.
